From NA Iron and Steel (FES)
The two standards are revisions of the dimensional standards for hot-rolled and cold-formed sheet piles from 2006. Some of the text, tables and images in both standards have been significantly revised. As an additional requirement for the quality of sheet piles, a maximum offset at the profile head has been specified for double and triple sheet piles. This is a maximum of 20 mm for hot-rolled Z, U and H sheet piles and cold-formed Z sheet piles.
DIN EN 10248-1, Hot-rolled steel sheet piles - Part 1: Technical delivery conditions
The standard EN 10248-1, Hot-rolled steel sheet piles - Part 1: Technical delivery conditions, was published in May 2023 in a significantly revised version compared to the last edition from 2006. The changes mainly concerned the inclusion of two higher-strength steel grades and an improvement in quality through the introduction of additional tests for the interlocks and grouting points.
Conclusion on DIN EN 10248: This means that the EN 10248 series of standards for hot-rolled sheet piles, which consists of two standards, has been completely revised.
DIN 488-6 “Proof of compliance”
The new edition of DIN 488-6 “Proof of conformity” was published in September 2024. This standard describes the system of internal and external monitoring of the reinforcing steel products standardized in DIN 488-1:2009-08 to DIN 488-5: 2009-08. The most important changes mentioned are: Factory production control (FPC) of uncoiled products and lattice girders; initial testing of uncoiled products; external monitoring with regard to fatigue strength; adaptations to test methods: Determination of the related rib area.
