STAHL-EISEN Prüfblatt (SEP) 1240: "Test and documentation guidelines for the experimental determination of mechanical properties of thin steel sheets for CAE calculation. 2nd edition, January 2026“ and STAHL-EISEN Prüfblatt (SEP) 1237: ”Testing and documentation guidelines for the experimental determination of failure characteristics for crash and forming simulation. 1st edition, January 2026" have been published and can be obtained as usual from the Matplus Shop or from DIN Media.

The STAHL-EISEN Prüfblatt (SEP) 1240 describes selected mechanical tests on thin steel sheets and their documentation. This SEP forms the basis for the uniform determination of material properties for CAE calculations and is intended to standardize data exchange between testing institutes, material suppliers, and automobile manufacturers.

The PDF can be purchased for €175.00 for the single-language version (German or English), while the printed version costs €201.25, also in German or English. The package price for the German and English versions is €275.00 for the PDF, while the printed version costs €316.25.

The STAHL-EISEN Prüfblatt (SEP) 1237 specifies experimental tests for determining the following failure characteristics: failure strain under uniaxial tension (specimens with holes or notches), plane strain under tension, and biaxial tension. The various test types are described separately and in detail. (SEP 1240 Section 9 contains the condensed summary).
